Sam Myers
Hello
I'm Sam. Husband and father in California, and I've been taking things apart to see how they work for about as long as I can remember.
How I got here
My first real job was being my dad's son. He founded a construction company called Diligent Services, and I grew up on his job sites learning the trade. In 2007 I talked my way into a FileMaker developer job while I was still in high school, then went back to construction. When the housing market fell out from under everyone, I joined the Navy.
I spent six years there boiling water for a living. I did it a few hundred feet underwater, by splitting atoms, which is the Navy's roundabout way of making a submarine go.
After the Navy I did a stint on SpaceX's Dragon, spent about six years at Lutron, ran projects at AHT Global, and eventually came home to the family company.
What I do now
I run Diligent Services. We design and install the systems that let a house work as one thing, the lighting, the sound, the screens, the network, and then we stay on to keep them running. The staying-on is the part I like best.
